While in Cancun you can also visit several major Mayan ruin sites such as those in Tulum; or you can visit the older part of Cancun "El Centro" for a change of pace. There are fewer hotels and time share rentals in El Centro as the majority of resort and hotel chains are concentrated on the beach, though you can find some vacation properties there. Cancun rentals, hotels, and resorts are all of a high quality, so you're not likely to be disappointed no matter where you stay.
